I've been told many different things about where "wahoo" came from, and one of them was a racial/ist thing...

Really? Woah. Haven't heard that one.

And you're west coast bound then? Sun, sand and surf.

Jeebus this is turning into a chat conversation haha.

Actually, I am west coast. UC for me because it's cheaper if I don't get my scholarship confirmed(stupid DoDMERB). Sun, sand, and surf are a little overrated. Dang it, if a chat is what it has turned into, then a chat it shall be. So, how's life? ;)

Ha ha!

Life is good. Have a job, am currently living off myself (till college starts of course, then it's parental dependence yet again) and of course, high school has been long gone since Nov 2004. :)

And yourself?

Life is pretty good. Spring break is nice; sleep is good. I was ready to graduate my first two weeks into senior year, so I guess that puts me ahead of you since we started mid-way through August. Did your parents insist you pay for yourself, or was that your choice? Where are you from(now that you know I'm in CA)?

I'm from Singapore! :) But I'm American. Yeah, you're probably ahead, in the sense that you're probably born in 1987, whereas I was born in 1986, but because of the high school system in Singapore (which follows the British A level system), I'll be older than the majority of the entering UVA batch? I think.

On the plus side, I've been out of school since November, and have time to do pretty much anything I want. I plan on back-packing around South-East Asia in June/July, my only problem being finding a partner who isn't just interested in (a) shopping and sun-tanning or (b) getting into my pants. Bah.

Anyhow, that's probably TMI, what do you guys do for spring break over in CA?

Well, in my own little rural area, we do nothing. Ok, we take trips to the beach, san diego, usually not LA (because it's just a nasty place to be so it has to have a pretty big draw, like the King Tut exhibit coming this summer. And "Wicked" the musical. yay! :) ) An amusement park if we can get the money together. But, pretty much, sometimes we end up doing nothing at all other than lounging around someone's house all day until their(or my) parents kick us out.

Born in the U.S.? Parents U.S. citizens? Parent/s in the military?

I can see how it would be nice to have a travel partner that doesn't want to get into one's pants. That's why I love my gay friends. Well, that and they're awsome anyway. :D I hope you're talking about a girl wanting to shop and tan, it's always a little disturbing to find a straight guy that loves that stuff(though CA has many).

Have fun back-packing if you get to go, it sounds like fun. I think I'll just be going to Texas this summer. And, you lucky duck, not being in school since Nov. But, I suppose you did your time just as I must do mine. Sigh...

What did you do back when you had spring breaks?

Other people can still join in...we were just the only ones actually here. How's life for anyone else?

Life is good :) Two weeks of spring break is awesome... except for the fact that I'm not going anywhere and I live in Alabama where there is pretty much nothing to do.

I fear it seems there is nothing to do anywhere in this country. Plenty of things to do if you DON'T live somehwere, but nothing where you do live. I'm glad life is good for you, and I have to agree, spring break is pure awsomeness. :) Is UVa your top choice school?

It would be if I could get in. It's a bit of a reach, especially since I'm from out of state. If only we had never moved from Virginia when I was five! Anyway, if by some miracle I get accepted, the school would definitely be at the top of my list.

But since this thread isn't talking about college! You're definitely right about the "Plenty of things to do if you DON'T live somewhere" but I hardly think that people fantasize about going to Alabama for some fun, haha. Unless they're space fanatics or something...

Too true, this is not supposed to be a thread about college! But is it so wrong to be curious about another person? Especially one that you may end up in college with?(I guess you'd have to see my face to get the meaning behind those words, but let's say my eyes were wide and my "voice" was innocent ;) )

So anyway, what do you do during spring break? I can hardly believe that teenagers in any state are held back from having fun by their location's paltry excuse for provided entertainment.

Well, I've been hanging out with friends... Starbucks (my addiction), movies, praying for the weather to warm up! Went to the gym too... I need to start working out again. But basically I've been trying to save my money. I've been babysitting because I'm going to London and Paris when I graduate :) So it's not too horrible that I am left with nothing to do these two weeks. I have a lot to look forward to in just two months! That's the good thing about living somewhere that's pretty cheap to live is you can save your money for more important things... like travel.

Definitely a perk. Living in SoCal gets pretty expensive. My summer trip will be to Texas(to visit my best friend), and only if I have a very large scholarship. Do you play any sports that you work out for, or is working out just a weird thing you do? ;) I've always wanted to go to London. What makes you want to visit there and Paris?

Hah. Well I did gymnastics for years... that and track. But I had tendonitis in my knees and shin splints so I quit both a few years ago. Now I decided I need to get back in shape in case I get chased by a mad dog or something ;) So I ran two miles at the gym (which just about killed me).

Anyway. I went to Italy last year and decided I needed to see everywhere else in the world too! My mom was going to take my friend and I to NYC but said she didn't want to anymore b/c we'd been before. So she suggested London... which due to a huge mess with the airlines turned into London and Paris. Which is fine by me. I'll get to see the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, act weird around the guards at Buckingham Palace ;)

Texas sounds fun. I've always wanted to go, and I considered applying to school there, but then decided not to do so. Did you used to live there or did your friend formerly live in SoCal?

you guys are having a fun little conversation...
irishred- London is awesome. Definitely my favorite city. Enjoy! Paris is lovely too, but I prefer London. Oh, and Texas is fun... I live there! (in houston) But I hope to go somewhere in Virginia for college.

Sorry you two, I feel like I'm interfering! I'm just trying to distract myself from studying for my calculus test...ugh.

My friend moved in seventh grade. Texas was not such a big deal to me then, and it still isn't. But, my friend and her family is/are. Maybe I just don't know enough about Texas to be drawn to it?

Wow, you've traveled a lot. Very jealous, here. :)

Ouch on the knees and shins. I got shin splints once from boxing, but only once, thank goodness. I ran a little over two miles a few days before spring break began, and i think it did kill me. But, I came back for the end of school. How sucky would it be to die from a little thing like running, just when you were to get a break from what kills your mind? I think I'll be sticking to a mile/little over a mile, for a little longer.

Oh, how'd you like NYC? I was noly there for two days, but my brief experience wasn't all that pleasant.

untiethecows, all are welcome. :) How long have you lived in TX?

Calculus...ew.

Calculus to me is like a mute Chinese person trying to speak Spanish. Yuck. And in a few days I have to go back to it.

BTW... don't feel like you're interfering!

NYC was okay. I have family there and my mom grew up there. How, you may ask, did she end up in Alabama? We were a military family.

Anyway, I was only fourteen at the time when we went to NYC... so really didn't get to experience the night life that much. Hawaii was pretty fun too... but I think Florida is just as nice (and a little less expensive!)

I went to NYC with my mom and sister. My mom wouldn't let us go out to experience the night life, so I have no idea how it is, either.

Reading what you, untiethecows(whom I shall now call ITC, unless ITC objects, and then I shall have to come up with another shorter version of their sn), and discombobulated have said, makes me wonder if I am the only person interested in UVa not to have been to a bunch of great places...sigh...I guess I'll just have to go find a nice rich man to marry...but not really.
