I'm currently a sophomore, and I'm deeply interested in the field of computer science. I need help finding a way to do this. Can you guys please tell me about the the intern possibilities, clubs, summer programs, competitions, etc. that are related to this field? I really enjoy computer science, and I truly want to find a way to enjoy it! Thanks!

USACO is the US’s national competition.

AP Comp sci A is a class you can take.

You can find a specific language you’d like to work in. I prefer C++ and Java.

Use Project-Euler to work on math problems using computer science methods.

MIT, Do you know C++?

Yeah, im fairly familiar with both java and c++. Ive written some programs also, and completed some problems on project euler, but I want to be more involved cs related activities with my school, I want to enroll in competitions, and also intern during the summer. What are some ways I can do this? what are the best competions and intern oppurtunities? Thanks again.

Form a robotics club or volunteer to create websites for local organizations or businesses.

Why don’t you try and search for yourself?

Best programming competition would be USACO, there are probably others that I haven’t heard of.

Few companies would be willing to hire a high school kid intern, so your best bet to get some experience through research. You can do this through a high school summer program, or by emailing professors at a local research university asking to help them with their work.

Within your school…do you guys have a robotics team/engineering club? Or other organizations like some of the business ones (DECA, FBLA) probably need software people or web designers.

If you’re going to do robotics/engineering. I say go for FRC. The others don’t quite match up in quality.
And yes I do know C++.
