Anything?

Wow, this place certainly seems to have died! Has anyone heard anything interesting (LOA, etc) recently?

Haha, tell me about it, no one is ever talking here anymore. I think I also saw that the Merchant Marine Academy had more posts than us! geezzz..

News for me is that I got my NROTC scholarship to the University of Washington. That was exciting news for me. Knowing that my worst case scenario for college (assuming that I don't get into either the Air Force Academy or the Naval Academy) is free college at a great university. Otherwise I'm still just waiting for the Academies to accept me.

See ya,

I received a 4-year AF ROTC scholarship for U of Illinois a few weeks ago. Still waiting on a NROTC scholarship, word from Notre Dame, and word from the USAFA. My plans are also up for grabs but at least I have a great "Plan B". Anyone else live in the Chicago western suburbs waiting on word for a nomination? I have been sending them my rexised ACT scores and assorted awards since the dealine and they always congratulate me on a job well done, however I never hear the good word. Anyone with a timeframe of when I should be expecting yay or nay?
Thanks

Everything is in and all I can do is wait. The holding pattern on a decision is all but killing me! I need to run several miles every night to work it off. Worst yet is the admissions office moving and closed until January.

Since all nominations must be submitted to the respective academy by Jan 30, you should be hearing within the next 6 wks regarding your nomination. The first word usually comes directly from the MOC, followed a few days later by an Academy letter confirming the nomination.

airforcetwo: As candidatemom points out, MOC must submit their nominations prior to end of January. Some MOC's issue a press release with their nominations. Check your MOC's website for last year's press releases in Dec and Jan to see if/when your MOC released names.

Don't feel too bad about your MOC. Our MOC isn't holding interviews until January 15th.

Hi, airforcetwo. My daughter is waiting to hear from West Point which is her first choice school. The nomination was received this past week. However, she just received a call from the U of Illinois where she has already been admitted. She will interview for an Army ROTC scholarship on 1/15/05. We're in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

I got a nomination from my congressman today.

Congratulations!

My son received a LOA approx. two weeks ago and a Nomination on Dec. 23!

I was nominated by my congresswoman to two academies.

I recieved my letter of nomination today for Air Force :)

I received a post card last Friday, Jan 7, stating that I was an official candidate for the Air Force Academy. Now I guess more waiting comes.

I received postcard also. Does anyone know when the bulk of the offers of admission are made?

According to everything I have read, most of the appointments are made in March.

airforcetwo - When was your packet marked "complete" at the AFA? My son's packet was complete about the 2nd week in November and on Dec 7th he was notified that he received an appointment.

Ciafad, congratulations to your son. That must be so exciting to know so early, so I hope him the best.

Flychic - We just considered it an early Christmas present.
His stats:
1470 SAT
33 ACT
No AP's
Attended Summer Seminar
lettered in track and football
EC's and student leadership positions

He recieved his nomination by Dec 7th? wow... They must have done things a lot faster.
