My friend got rejected from Rutgers in February, and he really wants to go there. His GPA is a 2.9 and SATs are around 2000. Is there any possible way to appeal, or apply for summer or next spring? I belive he was rejected because he applied in January. Is there anything he can possibly do?

hmmmm i'm guessing he's from a way over-represented state at rutgers that with the combo of OSS might do it-----i got in with comprable stats---but i'm from a state that has virtually no rep at the undergrad level at rutgers---kentucky---is he a mass., NY resident?

rutgers is randomly harsh on people......i don't know one would work through the rutgers system exactly ( i am again from KY).....considering they barely read the required essay i would say a letter would be slightly futile unless he had some sort of emiprical evidence (
current higher grades)---a connection would always help anything...your friend is just going to have to pull something that will get their attention, come on rutgers is a big state school....i believe even if his chances are low he should try something ---most people when they get a reject just give up---by putting himself out there he would be in a small crowd that might get rutger's attention....i say tell him to go ahead a write a letter9just make sure he gives strong support that he should be reconsidered)................if worse comes to worse he could always go to another rutgers branch and transfer to rutgers college ...damn i feel sry northeast applicants to schools anywhere---its freakin competitive

when i was rejected to some schools when i applied as a freshman, i called up and asked to speak to an admissions counselor to find out why i was in fact rejected. i pretty much [in a sane and rational way] explained my educational goals, etc. etc. and why my grades weren't as great as they should have been for the first two years in HS, bc i got better towards the end. the outcome was getting accepted to one of the 3 schools i did this for. i didn't end up going there, but it doesn't hurt to call and find out what went wrong.
good luck
