Anywhere near the campus to buy furniture/tableware/storage/ect.?

I'm moving into an apartment on Monday, and don't know if I should get my plates and glasses now and drive up, or wait until I get to Berkeley to do my shopping for bookcases and whatnot. I'd prefer to shop up there, because I'm quickly running out of room in my car.

I visited a dollar store in Sather alleyway last August with lots of plastic plates and dishes, check that place out.

ikea is about a 15 min drive away...

If you don't mind used, check Craigslist for furniture. Most likely you're going to toss it in 4 years anyway, so the cheaper the better.

There's an Ikea about a 15 minute drive away near oakland.

Oh. Yeah, I was checking the website, and I didn't recognize any of the cities. Then I looked again after your post, and I realized I've seen the name "Emeryville" before. So, yeah.

there is a scandinavian design pretty close to campus

Some other suggestions in case you aren't an IKEA fan:

Target in El Cerrito
Crate & Barrel Outlet Store on 4th St in Berkeley
Cost Plus on Clay Street in Oakland (jack london square area)
