I have a new MacBook Pro that was purchased sometime around June, and there seems to be a hardware problem with the fans that keep the CPU cool. I live on campus and get around by bus, so getting to the Apple store would take one hour getting there and one hour back. Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone who has a car that would offer me a ride, so I was wondering if there is a place on campus that would be able to repair this problem that is somewhat affiliated with Apple. I ask this because I don't want to be charged to repair the problem when I could take it to Apple for free, as it is still under warranty.

I’d be safe and go to the apple store. My friend and I went to get her computer fixed on the bus and it wasn’t that bad.

You could try the computer store/help desk in the FAC but I don’t think they are affiliated with Apple or be able to repair it under your warranty like an Apple store would be.

Have you considered taking a cab, at least one way? You might find that the price is lower than you expected.

Thank you for the responses. I ended up going to the Apple Store yesterday. It was the one at the Domain. The bus ride wasn’t bad at all, it was just the walk from the bus stop to the mall that was a little tiring (0.8 mile walk). Fortunately, they ended up repairing my Mac right there and gave it back to me within 15 minutes. I feel much better now.

Just an after thought…Wouldn’t the Barton Creek Location of the Apple store have been closer for you?

The Domain is farther than the Barton Creek Mall (11.8 miles v. 6.4 miles), but the bus takes about 35 minutes to get to The Domain as opposed to the hour it takes to get to Barton Creek. Getting to The Domain also only takes one bus ride, but I think there is more walking involved than getting to Barton Creek.

Also, I just wanted to check out the Domain since it’s newer and such.
