Hi. I sent my regional admissions officer at one of my top choice schools an email at least a month ago regarding an event hosted by the admissions office. She replied to it, saying that the event had already passed (there was no way of me knowing when the date was because I was just told there would be an event in my area and it just wasn’t on the website when I looked it up), but that she would answer any questions I had. So I replied with two questions: one about a specific program and another about an extracurricular on campus, and haven’t received a response since. I asked these questions because I couldn’t find the answer online. Should I do anything about it and is this a bad sign, or is it possible that my questions were just too specific for her to know the answer to?
I’d send another email, but don’t reference the fact that she failed to respond to your last one.
Depending upon the school, the AO may have a thousand or more files to be read as well as attending college fairs, open houses, etc. Don’t consider it a bad sign that there was not a response. Try to find the answer about a specific program on that department’s website, if you don’t find an answer, contact the department chair or administrative aid.As for the extracurricular, also check the website for clubs or campus activities, there should be a director listed.
I would not contact them again. It’s likely that it was too specific of a question for them to respond to immediately, and IMO doing so could signal a low ability to empathize/low EQ. I highly doubt it’s a sign of your chances at admissions.
