AoPS

Hi.

I'm currently entering the 11th grade and I have a question specifically poised to those who have read/own an AoPS (Art of Problem Solving) book.

Well obviously, spending at least $50 on a textbook with no prior recommendations is a stupid thing to do. So will anybody who has read this textbook answer my questions?

Is the book, in general, good?

Will it help with:
-The AMC
-Mu Alpha Theta Tests
-Other challenging mathematics competitions

Would it be all right if I just decided to skip Volume 1 and buy Volume 2? Is there any specific information that I will be missing without V1?

Thanks.

Download it and try it out. If you think it’s good, buy it.

The textbook is very good. Depending on your experiences, you can elect to skip Volume 1. If you’re capable of making AIME, Volume 2 might be a better option.

I got it. It is a waste of time, trust me don’t buy it- you’ll never see those problems again.
