Hi there, this will be my first time posting on the College Confidential website. I am currently a Junior who receives very good grades in my classes. I recently was handed back a list of my approved courses for my 2011-2012 academic school year.

Honors Religion (required.)
Honors U.S. Government
Honors Personal Finance.
AP English Literature
AP European History
Honors Pre-Calculus
Honors Human Anatomy and Physiology
Honors Spanish 4-4
Two semesters of open time.

Here’s my problem. I signed up to take AP World History instead of AP Euro. I went to talk to the administration that work on creating schedules and they said that there aren’t enough students taking AP World, so everyone who signed up for it was put into AP Euro. Unfortunetly, this is not contiguous with my plan and I wish to drop AP Euro for a different AP social studies class.

So, finally to my question, which AP elective should I take?
AP Psychology
AP U.S. History
AP Government

If you could tell me the difficulties of the classes and how to final AP test is, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Psychology is the easiest. European History is allot of fun, though! Depending on your teacher and all and how much you like history/reading. But yeah, psychology could be an easy “A”/5 for you.

Euro and US History are generally considered to be each others equivalents on amount of time necessary to master the material and how difficult it is to get a 5… the major differences between the two (and trust me, I’m taking both this year. Perhaps a bad choice haha) is that Euro focuses more on overall themes throughout the centuries, while APUSH is pretty much memorization of dry facts. If you are considering taking APUSH instead of Euro, I hope that you have some strong reason for your choice, because you’re lining yourself up to face a huge wall of Supreme Court rulings and Tariffs.

Psychology will (most likely) be an easy class for you, along with an easy 5 on the AP test. It isn’t what most people might classify it as, though… not too much of the interesting emotional blather that I would flock to, but rather more technical terms and nothing as cool as figuring out what the heck is wrong with your brain haha.

AP Government= US govt or Comparative? US I know nothing about, but I’m in Comparative this year and I find it fascinating. It’s pretty easy, and VERY up to date in what’s going on throughout the world. I found out things that I’ve always wondered about, and I am absolutely in love with the class.

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your responses! I’m highly considering dropping my AP Euro class and replace it with AP Psychology. I’m also hoping to see if I can have my open time dropped to fill it with AP US. I’m a history buff and love American history the most. I’m hoping to take AP Psychology just so I can have one less class I’ll have to take during my first semester of college.
