AP American History...

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, didn’t know where to write it.

If I don’t plan on majoring in history in collge should I bother taking AP history in my junior year? My grades were good enough in honors to move up to AP, but I am wondering if it is worth the extra effort. Do colleges place a lot of weight in the number of APs taken?

it definitely looks good to colleges if you take a couple of ap's. also, if you are planning on going to a liberal arts college, the possibility that you will have to take some sort of history course is pretty high. if you score high enough on the exam, that could mean one less class you need to take that isn't in your major.

I liked this class and learned alot. it was a lot of reading but worth it IMO.

I agree. It is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.

Yea I took the course basically second half of junior year, took the AP, got a 4, then waiting till December to take the SAT, studied a bit, and got a 720. It's an interesting course so I say go for it

although I didnt pass the AP (got a 2), I did learn a lot from that class. It is alot of hard work, however, you'll learn different things that may come up in the future ......
(no I dont regret taking the class an not passin the AP - I did pass the class though:)

Just because its not your major, doesn't mean you shouldn't take a hard course for that class possible. But this is the case for the top-tier colleges. They like to see students with a broad spetrum of excellence in all the core-areas. AP classes are definately a plus, but I wouldn't recommend AP history, if honors history you faced a challenge.
