I know a kid who goes to one of those schools where everyone takes 5 AP per year for soph, junior and senior year. He got an A in AP Spanish and a 1 on the test. He had one of those incredibly inflated GPA and many of his AP class grades and scores were similar. Stanford bought it and accepted him. Talk about a red flag

My Euro teacher told a story about this one kid in his class who got a 100 on the Global Regents but a 1 on the AP..

I also had a 'lowly' 97 on the US Regents and lost out to many people with 2's-4's on the AP despite the fact that I got a 5..

Those New York regents aren't quite as good as predicting AP scores as SAT II's are.. but I'd say regents are pretty good indicators of grades in the class..

The students last year in my AP Bio class had crazy grade inflation. The class average was in the low 90's but national exam-wise: only like 5 people out of twenty-five passed (3 or higher) the national exam. lol, hopefully our class is better

That's strange. In my school, it seems that Regents scores tend to reflect AP scores and vice versa, though I would say essentially all of our AP history students score at least a 90 on the Regents.

In my school, you have to have the recommendation of a teacher to take an AP class, so with the exception of a few students who slacked off this previous year, pretty much everybody who took both exams were very studious and successful.

I don't know of any students who score below a 3 on AP exams in my school. At my school, if a student is not doing his or her AP work, she is removed from the class and does not take the AP exam unless he or she has already signed up and paid for it.
