Some homeschool students take AP courses through a provider such as Keystone High School, while others study for AP exams on their own.

Here’s a link with information about registering for the exams.

My son took AP tests to match community college classes (Calc, Phys), and self studied in other cases (Composition, Comp Sci). You just need to follow Deborah T’s link to find out about registration. Or start with the same high school where you’ve already taken SAT I or II or ACT tests. Good luck!

GeekMom, or anyone… do you have any experience with arranging for a homeschooled student to take AP exams on the late testing date? I have a young gymnast heading into high school and recently discovered that JO Nationals are always the first week in May, leading to a conflict with the first week of AP testing pretty much every year. According to the AP website, that is acceptable as an excuse for late testing with an extra fee, but I am concerned about how high schools are likely to view offering him the exams, especially when the final national qualify is in April, long after tests need to have been ordered.

I just took rigorous courses on my own and then used AP prep books.
