Did anyone else take both the AP test and the IB test in multiple subjects? I did WAY better on AP tests. Look at these scores (and keep in mind that IB is out of 7):

IB Math HL: 5
AP Calc BC: 5

IB Bio HL: 5
AP Bio: 4

IB Econ HL: 5
AP Micro: 5
AP Macro: 5

IB Physics HL: 5
AP Physics C E&M: 5
AP Physics C Mech: 4

IB Chem SL: 5
AP Chem: still haven't gotten the grade for it (took it late)

IB English HL: 6

IB French SL: 5

Is this at all weird? Or is it just a LOT harder to get a 7 in IB that it is to get a 5 in AP?

Brooke, IB is certainly harder. The equivalent of most 5's in AP should be a 6 on an IB test, but im not surprised you got 5's on both. I hear getting a 7 on an IB test is incredibly difficult and if you get a 7 you certainly didnt BS your way to the score like many do on AP exams.

Nah, it isn't a lot harder per se, but Math HL is for sure harder than Calc BC. In HL math the curriculum goes quite a ways past anything you have to know for BC. The science tests for IB are also a very different format from AP, you may be more suited to APs format. I also heard that this year's IB Bio test was quite a bit harder than most people were expecting.
Remember also that IB and APs cirriculum is different, IB wanting more specifics in a lot of subjects (except chemistry), and AP wanting you to know the broad scope and be able to apply the knowledge to the problem (ie. not having to know every step in the Krebs Cycle).

I agree with ryan to an extent, it is easy to BS in AP, however I've found that you can just as easily BS some IB classes too. I got 7s on PsychHL and SpanishHL (certificate, i'm not a canditate) and didn't do one second of preperation. That said, AP Bio is way easier to BS because you are allowed to talk in general terms whereas IB wants excruciating specifics.
