Hey you guys, I was just curious because I have a friend who is taking it this year and says it is going pretty well. I just wanted t get some other input.
1) Do you think the course is appropriately designed to prepare you for the AP Exam?
2) Do you feel like you are REALLY learning something?
3) Is it hard, medium like most classes, or just really easy?
4) Do you enjoy taking the class?
5) Workload?

Okay, I wasn’t going to answer this because I took this class '08, but it is a legit class. I learned a lot and truly enjoyed it, but I did need to work and put a lot of time aside for it. there is NO WAY you can finish this in a month with a sufficient understanding of anything in the course (let alone have the teacher grade all the essays in a month…). I got a 4 on the exam (which is VERY difficult). I recommend it. It does take time though and starting now may not be the smartest idea for the exam in May (Though it can be done since I started in July and ended in December).

well, my teacher had been teaching art history for something like 40-50 years and she does an excellent job at preparing her students. i absolutely love the course, though it is a ton of coursework (about 3+ hours a night). she offers regular extra credit opportunities, including out of school lectures (which i find very interesting). to prepare for the AP exam, starting in february we have to go to one 2 hours out of class study session per week. your school may be more lenient (which means you probably will need to study more on your own to get a 4 or 5)

if durer, matisse, michelangelo, and brunelleschi don’t completely captivate you, and if memorizing artists, dates, places, styles, and techniques according to specific pieces of art for different time periods seems like too much work, please don’t take this class. this class has taught me (as an artist myself mind you) to appreciate and love art so much more, and i really pity those who are unable to take full advantage of it.

it is not a blow-off class by any means, but if you’re willing to put in the effort, by all means take it.

I’m taking Ap Art History on FLVS right now and I DON"T RECOMMEND IT!!! IF YOU CAN TAKE IT AT YOUR SCHOOL AND NOT ONLINE!!! I love the coursework, and will continue my art history experiance, but on FLVS, or at least this year, the lessons come out VERY late, and it feels like there is a WHOLE LOT not covered thoroughly. Its easy to fall behind in the course- in fact they almost make you. The pace chart ends ONE WEEK before the test- WE HAVE ONLY ONE WEEK FOR REVIEW!! And because almost all of the students, save for one or two, are behind, we will probably finish the course the night before exam day -_- Only take it online if you want to go suicidal like me and drown yourself in self-study in Art History- which for me is really very fun, nuthn but Art History 24/7 ~v~ So,again DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS ONLINE!!, its Febuary right now and I’ve just finished Gothic Art, really VERY behind ;,; TAKE THE CLASS IN SCHOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL!!!

The lessons came out late because the board had to approve the lessons for us students.
Dont ask me why it was done so late, but it was. They re-did the course over the summer.
I took this course on FLVS and I did enjoy it. I feel like I learned a lot. Very interactive and engaging, although true, some of it can be a bore, but that’s just my opinion. I don’t always find architecture interesting…

And yes, I am reviewing like crazy for this test, but it is my fault that I didn’t start studying at the beginning, like I should have.
