AP Art History or Principles of Health Science?

Which one should I choose for sophomore year course selection?

P.S. I’m for sure taking Anatomy & Physiology junior year. That being said, Principles of Health Science is not a required prerequisite (you only need Biology & Chemistry), but it is highly suggested that you take Principles of Health Science in this course sequence: Medical Terminology → Principles of Health Science → Anatomy & Physiology → Pathophysiology. As for AP Art History, I would take that only for the AP credit and for the GPA boost.

What is your desired major in college?

^A very important question.

If you are more humanities focused, take AP Art History, although it is an extremely demanding and detailed class even for upperclassmen.

If you want to go into STEM, Health Science is far more appropriate.

Lastly, don’t take courses that you are uninterested in because they “look good” on a transcript; take the most challenging courses possible that you are interested in AND fulfill basic curriculum expectations of most competitive universities/the universities that you want to apply to (such as, 4 years of a foreign language, one of each main science at any level, and completion of high school Pre-Calculus or higher).

@bopper
Not sure yet but I know I want to do pre-medical studies, with a possible major in biological sciences. Also, I should mention, the kris that take health science are usually going into the clinical classes at my high school

Definitely go for Principles of Health Science, then. If you are interested in the humanities, take APAH later on. If not, skip it, because it will likely be extremely unpleasant if you aren’t actually interested in the subject matter.

if you want to do pre-med, concentrate more on regular sciences bio, chem, physics and at least one AP version. That is what colleges are looking for over those other classes. Also get to at least pre-calc (calc would be better) and of course fulfill the basic curriculum expectations.

So if you have all the core courses (science math english social studies foreign lang) then i would go with the medical classes.

@r2v2018 and @bopper Thanks for the great advice!! Yeah, I made up my mind on doing Principles of Health Science and dropping APAH.
