There are already many threads on the subject, but I have a bunch of questions about AP Art History and self studying.

Is it possible?

What textbooks and prep books should I get? (I already have The Annotated Mona Lisa and Gardner's ATA Vol I)

How should I supplement my studying? I have heard flashcards, but Quizlet's AP Art collections are disorganized and incomplete. I also heard that making a chart for every period is helpful.

Links would be appreciated!

Get Barron’s and REA…you will do fine if you start studying from now on

I got a 5, but I took a class. I suggest you make flashcards of all the major works of art, and memorize like no tomorrow. Use the retired frq’s and any multiple choice you can off the collegeboard exam. It’s a pretty tough exam. I destroyed the multiple choice, aced the long essays, but got little over 50% on the short essays. Be prepared, I say, to bull**** an essay. I got away with atleast a 2/4 on one :). As far as books are concerned, I wouldn’t read a textbook, just cuz its boring and the textbooks are in excess of 1000 pages. Reinforce and take time on Greece and Rome though. Get REA and Barrons. And the week before or month before, go over The Annotated Mona Lisa! I recommend studying Renaissance back and forth!

bump great post! already bookmarked. i’ll be taking ap art history in the future
