AP Art History Test Prep Recommendation

Daughter is taking AP Art History and she is using the Marilyn Stokstad book complete volume Art History as her main textbook. The teacher also recommended the Annotated Mona Lisa. Any other suggestions? Would Annotated Arches be of any help? Art flash cards or CD's?? What about the Gardener's book? It is not a listed textbook but the teacher mentioned it as a good source as well. For the actual test, is there a prep book that stands out?

Thanks!

I had a friend who used Barrons and she said it was really helpful.

REA and crash course, Khan Academy vids

I hated Barron’s! Wayyy too much art that was not necessary for the test. It was not even interesting. The information it did have is useless when it comes to writing the essays.
For a review book I highly recommend REA. It is not only entertaining and instills an appreciation of the art, but the material covered was actually on the test. The passages were extremely helpful for writing my essays. I got a 5 :)

I did read the Annotated Mona Lisa and I skimmed the Annotated Arch. The Mona Lisa was not nearly as helpful as the architecture centered Annotated Arch. The things in the Mona Lisa book were already covered in REA and in a better fashion. The Annotated Arch I skimmed the night before the test and the one piece of architecture I looked at was what the essay on the test was about!

So I would get REA and the Annotated Arch. If she is self studying, go ahead and get the Mona Lisa, otherwise this will suffice!

Thanks so much! The Mona Lisa was actually required but we picked up the Annotated Arch too ( cheap for $3.99!) What is the actual name of the REA book? IS this it?

yes, that’s it

Any version of the REA book should do. But that appears to be the latest version.

So yes :)

Hey, I’m now taking the AP Art History course, and recently bought REA. Unfortunately it did not include the full color cd. Do any of you know where I could access a download of this cd?
