Hey, can someone help me answer this AP Bio lab question about rate of osmosis and diffusion?

If a potato is allowed to dehydrate by sitting in the open air, would the water potential of the potato cells become higher or lower? Why?

Thanks so much in advance!

I’m pretty sure it is higher. The cells need water in order to become normal size again.

this confused me for so long. I doubt the OP will actually look at this but…

Conversely, if water will go in the solution, the water potential is lower (negative)
