AP Bio multiple choice!

Out of the 100 multiple choice questions, if one gets about 10-15 wrong max, is there still a chance of getting a 5 on the exam? Thanks to anyone willing to help!

okay this is what i was thinking...according to the PR book, you can get 82 points and leave about 10-15 BLANK and still get a 5 if you do ok on your essays ....The general rule for this is that if you get 70% correct on MC, you will most likely get a 5...

This is what my teacher says... but also I would advise you to leave more blank and guess less, unless you can narrow it down to 2, but then again this is only what I've been told, so I may be wrong, anyone else care to elaborate?

I don't think MC will be that bad, but here's what I'm doing: I took the audit, did ok, but stupid teacher wouldn't allow me to leave any blank, and so I guessed a few extra wrong...and I plan on taking 2002 test tonight...is that good even though it's the OLD edition with 120 q's

okay so for the essays, I think we should make a HOT TOPICS list to review for the weekend: here is what I have so far from ppl that messaged me and teacher predictions:

ESSAY REVIEW-MAJOR HOT TOPICS TO STUDY IN LAST DAYS!!!

POSSIBLE LAB ESSAYS: Lab #10, Lab #9, Lab #5, Lab#2, Lab #12.

PAST Year/Essay on Lab
98/1&6
99/4
00/2
01/12
02/1,6,11
03/7
04/4
05/1
06/9
07/6

Evolution/Speciation

Nervous System and Reproductive System

Cell/Molecule one?

Chemisomosis, membrane related to ATP or cell respiration with lab 5

Maybe heredity...

water, transpiration, also ties into Lab 9

AHHHH I'm freaking out...A bit nervous....good luck all

thanks!

oh and know what punctuated equilibrium is! Two college-board released exams had a MC question on that. If I remember anything else, I'll let you know.

Oh, and what do you mean by the lab numbers? My Barron's book doesn't go by numbers!

The Princeton Review book has so many mistakes, and is really lousy for the labs.

One very notable mistake is where they claim:
Cell Respiration
C6H12O6+6O2 -> 6CO2 + 12H2O + energy

There are so many more mistakes in the book...

Any better place to review the labs? We didn't do all of them...

My teacher went over body systems by having everyone do a group presentation... took a week to go over every single body system.

my teacher gave us the 1999 test for practice in the middle of the year - multiple choice alone landed me a low 3 JUST above a 2.. but when i included the essays (which i haven't scored yet, but put down 5/10 on all four of them for a worst-case scenario), i got a pretty solid 4. so even if you get 35 MC wrong (..ha), those essays can save you. you don't get penalized for wrong information, so just ramble (coherently, of course).

People relax. If you get 65% or even little less in MC and Essay, it is a solid 5. Stay above 62%, it is a 5.

mcotocjc can u tell me where u got that info? cuz i can search for other APs and stuff

Please use this formula

.9[x - 0.25(100-x)] + 1.5y

if you get a raw score of 61 it is a 5.

Let's say you get 68% in MC that translates to 36 for MC score.

Then in essay if you score 26/40 which is 65% which will add upto 61 total score which is a '5'

ok i have a question

i took a practice test but there were no questions or essays SPECIFICALLY on the 12 bio labs. how are u guys predicting these lab essays when there arent any specific lab essays at all?

what do u guys mean?

Redwood:

For God sake, please reviiew Cliff Notes. They have everything. Lab essays are one of the four FR questions asked along with 10% of MC questions., i.e 10 questions worth 16 points. Put it this way, it weighs 16% of your grade.

I have reviewed it, and none of the questions seem to be specifically about the labs.

Of course they don't have questions "SPECIFICALLY" about the labs...they're not going to make you write an essay on the EXACT same lab you did. you need to know the general concepts/steps of the lab, and able to change it to anything you want..

you should look at collegeboard's old essay questions..

mcotocjc: Are these based on the 150 point system? What is the weighted score out of 150 you need to get to be in the 5 range? I think it changes every year a tad bit by the "Equating" that CB does.

well i just took the test.

yuck/yay at the same time...

i got done with the essays in like 20 minutes and scribbled on my green paper the rest of the time...not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. lol

how come a lot of ppl have been saying that 75% is a 5, and so on? from calculations, a 5 has to be about the 62% range

^ (10 chars)

^ ne1 got any info on this?

I read that 50% on each section (multiple choice and essays) was a 3.. But I'm not sure I recall where I heard that information.. So don't take my word for it.
