Ap Bio or Ap Chem and general questions

I am thinking of taking Ap bio and ap chem for this year but i'm afraid that i would not be able handle it. From various smart people in my school, some say ap bio is easy and some say its hard and its the same with chem. Any suggestions?

Also, for GPA, does the GPA send to college include your senior year? My sister's boyfriend said when he took though ap chem was really hard and i know for a fact that he's pretty smart.

What happens to your transcript if you happen to fail (like get a 2 or 1) on an ap exam? Will this cause a problem with my chance to get accepted to colleges?

How about SATs? A low SAT or high SAT? A higher one, of course is better. I dont' know what to do and the people i'm friends with are split between those who care about their grades and those who doesn't.

My friend has straight A's and a perfect 4.0. It makes me feel "insert emotion" that she keeps freaking out over her almost "B" and almost lose her 4.0 because i DON'T have a 4.0 and such. She feels that she won't go to a good college ..ect because if she gets a "B". I think the way she's acting is cause me to freak out.

Any suggestions, clarification and such will be greatly needed. thank you!

Talk to both of the techers, and find out what class you like better (or if you like both of them). Also, was Chem or Bio easier for you to understand? For me, I'm one of the rare few that does better in Chem than Bio, so I'm doing AP Chem although I would do both if there was room in my schedule. As for yuor AP ?, don't get a 2 lol just study and you'll do fine. A 2 would look pretty bad, but not as bad as not taking the test at all. Find out what the pass rate is for both classes. At my school, there is a 86% pass rate for everyone that takes the AP Chem test. And I have a friend like the one you described. Don't stress over it and compare yourself to them, just try to focus on making yourself a better student...Hope this Helps :)

Ok. At my school, AP Chem is considered extremely easy, and AP Biology is considered the most difficult AP there is. Personally, I agree.

But looking purely at the curriculum, if you are substandard student who struggles with most courses, you are better off taking biology. Chemistry requires quite a bit of useless dry material. For top students, biology will be harder since there is a lot to memorize, but for substandard students it will be easier since a lot of it is just simple logic and broad concepts.

Btw, AP Biology has a pass rate of around 95% in my school. AP Chem has a pass rate of 90%. AP Biology has a 5 rate of 30% and AP Chem has a 5 rate of 50%.

So. If you are dumb and looking for something you can pass easily, go AP Biology. If you are smart and looking for a challenge, AP Biology. If you are smart and want to take something that is just plain simple with lots of random facts and no major concepts, AP Chem.

For us, Chemistry is known as the toughest AP. It's partly because the teacher is a college professor teaching chem so he basically teaches us the same thing he teaches them.

Yeah, at my school AP chemistry is one of the toughest and AP bio is a piece of cake. I guess it all depends on the teacher/school.

take both. bio = easy with cliffs (you won't spend that much time on it). chem is more difficult but still not the same lvl as some aps like physics c and latin vergil.

From what I've heard from people who took them last year, AP Chem seemed to be the harder of the two. I know five people dropping out of the class within the first 2 weeks. The class is harsh for those who have no chem experience in the past. Besides, the book the students use is one taught in college. As opposed to Chem's drop-out rate, AP Bio proves to be more "learnable" as there were only two or three dropping out. But the Bio teacher is known to be one of the scariest and hardest teachers at my school and one of the reasons to drop is because some students can't stand her strict and sometimes sarcastically harsh attitude otherwise you will learn so much in her class if you get over her scary image. AP Bio involves lots and lots of reading and intense memorization and it might prove horribly difficult to those who have trouble memorizing things. Chem deals a lot more with problem solving so all and all, it's up to your teachers and your individualistic strengths and how you handle them

chem is much easier than bio to me, and by that i mean i'm absolutely horrible at bio and pretty great at chem. if you like them both equally, then it all comes down to which one you think you'd do better in, honestly, and you can find that out by word of mouth.

I'm taking both this year; i would advise you to take bio. Chem is one of the most difficult APs to pass

i took ap chem last year. i got a 5 on the ap test but my average for the class was a 82. i am in bio this year. i think it just depends on the teacher.
