I'm self studying AP bio next year, and my big sister was able to keep campbell's 5th edition biology textbook. I know it's older than the version my school is currently using, but will it be just as sufficient to study for the Bio AP exam?

Yeah, it should be.

Yeah, that’ll work. Make sure you get some AP study books too. Good Luck. :)

Hey I was in the same situation as you! I selfed when I was a sophomore and got a 5. My teacher lent me her copy of the 5th edition and it really helped. The Cliff Notes AP Bio is definitely me study, but the pictures and diagrams were awful. I remembering staring at a genetic diagram and still not get what’s going on. But the textbook helped immensely. Or maybe I just like colors. Either way, use that 5th edition!

I would definitely use campbell reece, along with a review book.

I really liked the Barron’s book, and I know a lot of others have as well, but it’s really up to your learning style and your likings.

Otherwise, I think that you should be just fine with the fifth edition. I’m not sure if it will correlate with the new AP Biology test restructuring, however. I would talk to your school’s AP Biology teacher if you have one and ask him/her about the recent changes. I would also ask if you could borrow a more recent copy of the book; I’m not sure how much has changed, but it would probably be better to use something more recent if possible.

You can get Campbells, I heard that is a good one, or you can find the Campbell lecture powerpoints online Uh, I used Princeton Review to study, but to each his own!
