does anyone know how much knowledge of taxonomy is expected of us, and has it ever be an essay question? i have cliffs and it has a really detailed chapter on taxonomy and im not sure if its worth learning all of it

good question, same here
my teacher zipped through the whole unit in literally 2-3 days. i dont know how we managed to cram all that in such little time

what is the new edition number? I’d like to check if we have the new one or the old one?

Thanks!

i have the 3rd edition which i believe is the newer one, i think

the 3rd edition just have smaller font, the content’s the same, i checked =)

I can confirm. Half my bio class has the old one, the other half has the 3rd one. Personally, I’d rather take 70 pages over small font.

From the past tests, I see that the taxonomy questions are pretty general, and there are a couple of them. So I think it’s best to know most of the phylums (p160 3rd edition Cliffs) (p189 2nd) and the plants just know the difference between Bryophytes, Tracheophytes..etc. Fungi, I don’t think we need to know in detail at all.
