I’m taking AP bio this coming year (my junior year). For the summer I’ve had to take notes for an assignment and I’ve noticed I’m really slow at it. Any note-taking tips? Any test(tests in class, not official) taking tips? Just any tips for getting a good grade in the class and handling workload would be helpful. Thanks in advance
Also just random, on your average night how much homework did you have from this class?
Note taking will take a long time for bio if you do it well, no way around it. However, you don’t need to write down every single detail and make your notes incredible complex. The way the “new” (it’s been around a while from my understanding) test is made, there is less emphasis on knowing every step in a process, every hormone exactly, or repeating stuff word for word than there is on having a good understanding of connections between concepts. Basically, good biology and science thinking and analyzing skills and more important than memorization and regurgitation.
I also really like Khan Academy’s readings. I’m not really a video person, so I liked to read their readings on the different topics, and liked it better than my textbook. Most people in my class felt this way because for the most part, the textbook was too detailed and overwhelming.
I don’t know how your class will be formatted so I don’t really have any advice on tests or workload. We took our notes in class and if you focused you could get it done, but if you have to do them at home it should be ok as long as you remember not to get bogged down writing every detail. Some time in class will give you a feel of what you need to know.
