AP Bio vs. AP Physics

Is AP Bio easier or is AP Physics easier? I am currently preparing for SAT II Bio, but I have barely any experience in physics... How long would it take to prepare for ap physics if I started from scratch?

Thanks

Physics B or physics C? You need calculus background for physics C.

If you’re planning on self studying, AP bio will be easier since its mostly memorization. Physics involves problem solving and a lot of math.

I’m considering Physics B… but is physics C harder just because of the calculus?

Thanks

Physics C is basically what Physics B is, but more in depth and contains calculus. And in my opinion, physics is a lot harder than biology, or at least it requires more effort to learn, because biology is just memorization, and anyone can do that.

That’s not true, not everyone is good or has the attention span to memorize pages and pages of facts and descriptions. If you are really good at memorizing information, then you will excel in AP Bio. If you are creative and are really good at drawing conclusions and making connections, particularly with formulas and experiments, then take AP Physics.

Be aware that AP Bio is changing this year. It will be A LOT more understanding and applying instead of just memorization. From 100 mc and 4 frq to 55 mc to 9 frqs (nine!)

I thought the change in AP Bio was for next year?

@blabbermouth - Where can we go to read about the changes? That sounds really interesting.

The change is set for 2013, not next year.

[AP Biology | The College Board](<a href=“About AP – AP Central | College Board”>AP Biology Course – AP Central | College Board)

“AP will implement the eagerly awaited revised course in the 2012-13 academic year.”

Oops, my bad. Im sorry for the confusion

I took physics B this previous year I am taking AP Bio this upcoming school year. From my experiences and the experiences of my friends in AP Bio, Ap Bio is much easier. If you study you will definitely do well in Bio. In physics there is no such guarantee.

The AP Bio test is changing the year after next (a new form will be administered May 2013). But 9 FRQs!!! I could barely get through 4! Talk about torture…

Yeah seriously, 9 is kind of ridiculous. I remember when I took AP bio, my essays were all 1-2 pages long. Hopefully they compensate by making the questions less in depth, because 9 pages of cold hard facts is insane.

It’d be kind of interesting to see what they would do with the FRQs though. They could put in an excerpt from a reputable researcher and ask you to analyze it and offer a valid explanation, etc… That would certainly jive with their understanding theme.
