AP Biology 2011 Official Thread

i think it was cerebellum

Cerebellum is involved with the movement.

I meant to say that I couldn’t think of 3 Eukaryotic organelles that directly related to 3 prokaryotic organelles and decided to compare and contrast cell wall and plasma membrane. Will I get any points for this (is plasma membrane considered an organelle by any means)?

General questions; non specific; what a character of an ancient ancestor of all three eubacteria/archea/eukarya, its for my bio hw:)

cell wall i assume

Check out post test discussion forum for link on curves for a 5

what happens if we say a question??? I didn’t know that we could not… Now I am scared… Btw guys, do u think the curve will be lowered by a lot!! ???

What’s the difference between a homolog and a homologue? Is it the same thing spelled two different ways or are they different?

Edited…

Why some of you are trying to “game” the system is beyond me. Take a chill pill and wait the two days. Scores won’t come out until July, so there is plenty of time to reminisce.

Wait, do cell membranes and nuclei count as organelles? If so, fff…

…based on how college students do!!! F***! Then we’re all really screwed -.-

How are we screwed if the curve is based on college students? You do know that AP classes college level, right?

Obviously I know that >.>
But students in college courses are prone to take the class more seriously than your average public school student. Some high schools just randomly hand out AP classes to anyone who applies. These students help to raise the chances of getting a greater curve. Especially second semester seniors … They don’t give a crap about AP’s …

thats a solid 5. not factoring the possible curve change…my teacher said there wasnt a curve! is she rite?

No, Anthony, there’s a curve on ever AP Exam administered by the College Board. And I agree with Cookiemonster94, in that college students must be more serious (on average) then most of the sophomores and second semester seniors in my class.

Does College Board allows students totake same AP Exam one more time if the student pays? I know that I will get decent score but if I get 1~3, can I retake the exaqm next year?

^ Yes.

10char

Actually, the curves aren’t exactly based on college students’ performance. Until today (we learn somethin’ new every day) I thought that the curves were pre-determined. They are actually determined after the readings… more details: [AP: The Score-Setting Process](About AP Scores – AP Students | College Board)

The exams are occasionally compared (through comparability studies) to college-level performance so that in essence, a 5 equates to the level of knowledge that an A-level college student would also have.

So yes, they are sometimes compared with college students, but college students’ performance is not what determines the curve.
