AP Biology and the Campbell book

In my bio class, we are barely done with half of the materials covered on AP, and I figured no way we can cram the other half in two months. So for the people who have taken AP bio before or are taking it now, what are the chapters in the Campbell's book that I need to learn before the AP test?? I have to read these chapters on my own so please post if you can. I have the 4th, 6th, and 7th edition.

Thanks for any help.

These are the chapters we already went through in class: (6th edition) 1-10, 12-18

I’m in a similar situation as you are. My teacher only covered chapters 1-9 and 50-55 so far. We are really behind. What I’m doing is reading the sections in the Cliffnotes review book one at a time. After that, I go over the same material in Campbell’s. That way I can get a better understanding of what I just read. I plan to go over the whole Cliffnotes book this way, and when I finish, I’m going to cram it in over and over again.

Both of you seemed to have skipped Animal/plant form and function I believe Chapters 35-49? not to sure about the #'s but you definitely need that. Photosynthesis and Cellular respiration are two big ones as well but definitely the form and function chapters

How long do you spend on a chapter? Im in AP Bio and we have the 7th edition. So far we did chapters 1-38. But thats only because we basically have a test every week on a couple of chapters so I’ve read a lot of boring chapters. We’ve spent alot of time on Evolution, Molecules and Cells, Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration.

^ You have done chapters 1-38?! That’s insane. We are going to so slow… Spent about 3.5 weeks on two chapters. Not kidding. I talked to my teacher today, and he wasn’t even worried and his reason was that a) the whole district is going this slow, and b) no one ever planned to finish everything. So… I guess I’m on my own.

OK, I’m going to go to those animal/plant chapters. It’s going to be so much fun that I am already jumping with excitement, not.

we’ve done 1-22 (we skipped 11, 18, 21)

we skipped 23-26

we just had a test on 27,28,31-34

how behind is my class?

btw we use the 5th edition of campbell’s

We use 7th edition, we’ve done 1-22, skipped 11 and 21.

we use 7th edition. we’ve done chapters 1-39 and we already did 50-55.

Thanks !

For those who took the AP exam, is it crucial to read Campbells? cuz our teacher gives us a lot of notes on what most of the ap is going to ask

I would say “no”, dododo121. Our midterm exam was a previously administered AP exam (well, half of one), and I managed to get a decent score (it translated into a 5) with only Barron’s.

To be honest, Barron’s seems to be a direct rip of Campbell’s. However, I use that green ol’ text for the class exams because my teacher just loves to test the nit-picky details that the AP exam wouldn’t touch!

I use the Campbell’s book 7th edition and have covered chp. 1-33 so far, doing 34/35 next. I think you’ll be fine because the ap asks questions far more general than the campbell’s book does. The question in say barrons review books are more like the ap than the campbell’s questions.
