AP Biology AP Exam 2016

I am a freshman taking ap bio (i know it was a bad decision but by the time I realized it was too late). Anyways, i wanted to know how the new AP Test was for bio and what i could do to get a good grade on the ap test. my teacher is not the best so I do have to study a lot by myself and I was wondering what I should do to get a good grade on the ap test, with or without a good teacher.

I have a horrible teacher too, she actually teaches us the concepts wrong, or doesn’t teach at all. Anyway, I know how you feel. I use the Barron’s AP Test prep book and flashcards, and they’ve been helping me a lot with studying and understanding the key concepts. Good luck!

Hey I’m a junior taking AP Biology right now and a great tip would be draw diagrams and the explain them to yourself so that the info you learn actually sticks, after you have explained it double check it with your notes or textbook! I would recommend the campbell workbooks that go with the textbook because they are like a condensed version of the textbook! I hope that helps

Hey I am also a freshman taking AP Bio this year and I was wondering if anyone knew the percentage of questions you need to get correct to receive a 5? I know based on the 2008 released exam it is around a 65%, however they recently changed the test in 2013 so has their curve changed? Thanks.

READ THE TEXTBOOK! I don’t have the best biology teacher either (his forte is AP Environmental), but nevertheless he is pretty lax on us considering it’s an AP class. He’s one of those who doesn’t give a lot of homework. Anyways, my advice is to read the AP textbook (Campbell is basically the Biology Bible) and buy a prep book. I use 5 steps to a 5, but i’ve heard Barrons is good and so is Kaplans. But for biology, the biggest thing you need to do is start studying early. Bio is so dense in material. Find a college class’ notes online somewhere for an introductory class. Read the textbook, and read a prepbook. Maybe even watch CrashCourse on youtube. thats 4 different sources, surely presented in a multitude of ways. Dedicate about an hour a night and you should be fine!
