AP Biology FR 2010 Grammar Mistake?

You’re carelessly throwing out offensive words without any foundation. From Merriam-Webster on the definition of arrogant:

I have done nothing remotely arrogant.

The rule that the subjunctive is required there is perfectly logical. The College Board was presenting a hypothetical situation, not one that occured in the past as they actually communicated. I had to repeatedly reread the sentence to actually understand what they meant to say.

What are you arguing for? The idea that the College Board should intentionally make errors to seem more human? Grammaticality is no less human than ungrammaticality; in fact, understanding complex grammar is uniquely human.

I like the sarcasm.

Wow, this is one of the stupidest threads I’ve seen in a while.

Maybe CB was just testing us on our grammar skills when we least expected it. Maybe they’re watching this thread right now…

Seriously, though, who cares? I didn’t notice the mistake, and I’m sure the same is true of 99% of those who read that question.

That’s probably true. But it’s a bad sign when the 1% who is bothered by something happens to be the most knowledgeable 1%.
