AP Biology: Is it really that hard?

How hard is AP Biology really? I know it depends on your teacher and whatnot, but almost everyone says that they’re dying in that class. Also, is it in interesting class; what topics are discussed?

I’m taking it right now as a sophomore. I took AP World History as a freshman and I am also in APUSH now. I don’t think it’s that bad. The labs aren’t as hard as everyone says they are, it’s just hard to make sure you understand the concepts. I think that it’s harder than APUSH but easier than AP World, if that means anything. I think it’s really interesting, but I want to major in biology so I might be biased :). So far we have discussed evolution, biochemistry, cell parts, the cell membrane, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, and we are now doing mitosis and meiosis.

In my school, it’s the easiest thing ever. I’m taking it right now, and I think it’s way too easy. We just get a TON of busy work, though, which sucks so I always have like three hours of AP Bio homework. I find it really boring, but I’ve always hated bio. I really wanted to take AP Chem, but scheduling conflicts…

It’s not too bad, but yeah a good teacher can make your experience much better. I personally had an okay teacher, so Bio was kind of boring and dry sometimes. Just make sure you understand the major topics like evolution and photosynthesis and DON’T BE AFRAID TO ASK FOR HELP IF YOU NEED IT. Can’t stress that enough. Around AP season, do lots of FRQ’s and take a practice test or two, and you’ll be fine. This may not be strictly for bio, but practice time management when you’re taking a practice test. The Bio AP was probably the most time-consuming and time-constraining AP i have taken so far, and I had to skip 2 frq’s because I ran out of time.

Got a 4, in case you’re wondering.
