AP Biology Review Thread

heads up to everyone: some of the MC answers on the 1999AP bio MC are wrong from the file on testfrenzy.

i checked it with the answer key from another site, and the ones that i found different were:
18, 55, 56, 58, 61, 78, 79, 101, 108, 112, 113

What are the answers then?

in order:
18, 55, 56, 58, 61, 78, 79, 101, 108, 112, 113

Guys, what are similiarities and differences between epinephrine and norepinephrine?

i believe with regards to ap bio, all we need to know is that they are BOTH stimulated by the adrenal medull and raise blood glucose levels by stimulating the liver to breakdown glycogen. as well as the “flight or fight response”

Yes! I just studied this, epeniphrine and nonrepinephrine are both hormones secreted by the adrenal medulla. I don’t think the difference between them is important. Just know the effect of each is to increase and prolong the effects of the sympathetic nervous system.

I’m pretty sure epinephrine is just adrenaline, and norepinephrine is noradrenaline, meaning that the former is associated with the sympathetic nervous system (increased heart rate, more focus, excitable, decreases digestion) while the latter is the direct opposite and associated with the parasympathetic nervous system (calms the body down, increases digestion).

We should all just rest! If one reads through this thread they could probably get a 3 or 4, so many details answered.

@ lockdown

adrenaline and noradrenaline both are associated with the sympathetic system… That’s why I was wondering if there are any differences, but it looks like it won’t matter

good luck everyone tomorrow; go for a 5

^I don’t know if this matters but epinephrine and norepinehprine are both neurotransmitters that excite the flight-or-flight response (Increase heart rate, dilate pupils, etc.). Norepinephrine can also act as a hormone. That is all I could find.

The differences are not important.

goodnight all and good luck on the test

A general question:

On the FRQ for AP bio, is the one question about labs based upon a lab already done in class, or is it a lab that is not done in the classroom, and all that is needed to answer is a basic overview of the independent/dependent variables, predicted outcomes, etc.

I’m asking this because my class only did a few llabs the entire year (the dialysis bag, the lab with the enzyme and the electrophoresis experiment are the only ones I remember doing).

I remember a practice test where they asked you to design your own expirement for some random lab.

I’m pretty sure it’s based on a required lab. But that doesn’t help much…our class didn’t even do any legit labs…
Ill prob just bs it and put in a bunch of random facts.

bs ftw =) (10char)

i thought multiple choice went really well but essay was kind of bs.

There weren’t really any labs in this year’s FRQs. Lol.
Good thing though.
MC was really hard for me and most of my Bio class. :/

Today, FRQ. Sucked. Kicked. My. Ass.

Seriously?! Where was all the stuff I studied?

Gah. I totally ran out of time for the FRQ. We should all discuss later, after 48 hours. Yes?

MC was okay. It was one of those things where you can narrow it down to 2 or 3 for most of them but there were only a handful I was absolutely sure about.

I’m hoping the curve is really easy this year. I think I got at least a 4. Hope. I really don’t want the July score reports back. D:

if the curve changes at all, it wont be by much. besides, you only need like 60% of the test to get a 5. that means like a little over half of the mc and half of the essay points. i’m sure there’s nothing to worry about.

the fish problem was kind of iffy.
