@curiousscience Please let me know if you find any prep books helpful! (I might be sticking to my Pearson’s guide because I’m using Campbell’s Biology).
is campbell’s good for AP as well? I’m using it since I wanna do usabo
I also want to do USABO but I’m not sure about the payments and stuff. (Like paying for the traveling and such).
@imbep49 But yes, a lot of websites wrote that mastering Campbell’s Bio prepares you for the usabo.
Does anyone else have ap bio summer hw that they haven’t started yet? I have to watch and take notes on David Christian ted talk on the history of the world in 18 minutes and the big history project (it seems pretty interesting but it’s six hours long???).
@unwound that sounds awful to be honest 8-| My class is only Honors Biology since we have no AP and we didn’t have summer work. Good luck though.
Ugh, the book search struggle is alive and well.
If any of you guys are using Campbell’s 8th edition textbook in class, these outlines are a life saver

Wow! Thanks @jubilant56! I have a question, would this outline also be compatible with the 9th edition?
I honestly have no idea. Sorry
I just know that the outline and what’s in my textbook, 8th edition, are pretty much identical.
I’m pretty sure they are, 8th and 9th edition aren’t very different. 10th edition, which I’m using, has some bigger differences though.
I heard that the 10th edition has clearer diagrams, more questions, and a little more “updated” info on molecular biology (even though it’s a bit behind than the actual progression). @imbep49
By progression, I meant the recent researches in biochemistry and molecular biology.
Has anyone heard any news about Cliff updating their ap bio book since college board decided to change the curriculum?
Not that I know of, to be honest. @jubilant56 The last they updated was around 2013ish
Is it necessary to read the whole Campbell book and then buy a review book to make a 5 on the AP exam? I’m currently done reading chapters 2-6 of the Campbell 8e textbook.
@luigi66 That is an overkill for not only the AP exam but also the Sat II. If you are self studying, try reading a chapter and read something on the review book to clarify what the textbook have said. Take notes on key ideas and major labs. Campbell is designed for introductory biology classes, especially if it isn’t the AP version. My teacher gave me the syllabus on what we need to learn and things we must know.
I am taking the class. Is it really hard to get a 5 on the AP exam? I want to prepare as much as possible so I can hopefully make a 5 on the AP exam.
Same here and I’m also using the Campbell’s guide notes that someone posted here for clarification and using the PowerPoints that my teacher uploads every week. Even though I prefer the guide notes than the PowerPoints, it’s still good to have some sort of backup. Hm, I heard from the upperclassmen that they had used the practice workbooks in conjunction with Barron’s. To be honest, I think that creating a chapter review sheet and using the practice workbooks and later during the year, the exams and labs, would be great.
I took AP Chem last year as my only AP and i found the ap test to be pretty challenging. I’m taking the class (AP Bio) this year along with 3 other AP’s. How does ap bio compare to ap chem in terms of difficulty? (I realllllly want to get a 5 lol)
What are you guys doing right now? My teacher is starting, well we already started, Ecology and we are almost done with it. She gave us a syllabus and the next thing we are going to do is animals.
