***AP Biology Thread 2015-2016***

I got a 3 on AP BIO :frowning: I still passed but I don’t get any credit. Also, I want to major in Biology (premed track) so won’t this look bad on my resume if I put it on there?

Dear Soceer 1235, my son took non-honors Biology his freshman year–make a very strong A–then took Honors human anatomy his junior year made an A, then he took AP Bio his senior year–made a
C–very hard class. But we found out he made a 4 on the AP exam yesterday–he is a non-stem major–so he is very happy with the score. He didn’t want to take Bio in a large SEC school with a huge freshman Bio class. he attended a very good private high school–and his Bio teacher has been very involved with AP for over 30 years.

I guess two years without any Bio and then jumping into AP might be difficult, but a 4 is an excellent score. Thanks for the info!

What’s the easiest way to get a 5? Using minimal resources/simplified plan?

@NYhomeschooler I took AP Biology without bio or honors bio first. I managed to get a 4.

@thetex memorize everything in the Cliffsnotes AP Bio review book and you’ll be good for the exam

Guessed on the last ten questions and left one grid-in blank. Thought the frqs were pretty easy. Earned a 5. My recommendation is to study with the Pearson review book as your class moves through the course. In general, the multiple choice tests your ability to interpret and analyze labs with some questions relating to the coursework. The grid-ins are all calculations; you just need to know when to use each equation where (sometimes the answer is straightforward and you don’t need to do any calculations!). I feel that the frq section is the area where the information you learned throughout the year applies the most. Good luck to all students taking AP Bio next year!

I felt really confident going in and only got a 4, but I’ll take it. My teacher was worried about our class because this was her first year teaching an AP class, now that I’ve passed the exam I think I’ll ask her to write my college rec letter

best review book to self study Ap Bio?

@Giovuhnni cliffs! It’s the best

@Giovuhnni Campbell’s 9th edition biology book is also helpful for self study. p.s.(if u google campbell biology 9th edition pdf u will find it for free)

Is bio harder than chem? I got a 4 on chem, and I should’ve gotten a 5 but oh well. Will my strong background in chem give me an edge for bio? I didn’t finish my Princeton review for ap chem and solely relied on youtube because I had a joke for a teacher.

@thetex The Cliffnotes book is good review, as is the Five Steps to a Five book. I recommend buying both and using the 5 steps book as review right before the exam.

Campbell’s is an amazing book but if you just wanted to get a 5 on the AP exam it might be a little too detailed.
