AP Biology

Right now I stand at a crossroads of a sort. I want to be accepted at GT chemical engineering. My school offer a summer course in marine biology which fulfills my schools biology requirement. This would free up my schedule for AP statistics. It would also allow me to do AP History. If I decide to do AP biology I will have to drop AP History and take normal History. I would also be unable to take AP statistics. Taking both AP History and AP biology would be pretty much be close to impossible for me.

So my question is this: Is AP biology important for GT chemical engineering or should I take AP history and AP statistics instead?

Personally, I would say that you need to take the AP class that will help your progress in your major. AP Bio would be very good, but if you are trying to obtain a certain number of AP’s just for the number, then do His and Stats but then your motives are questionable. But, as I am a GT admitted senior with AP Bio and US His credit and not an actual student, I am not sure the Bio or His classes at Tech are. But good luck to you and all of your endeavors.

So you suggest AP biology correct?

Georgia Tech only accepts AP Bio credit if you get a 5.

Georgia Tech does not accept AP statistics.

History, Government, econ…etc are really not that bad at Tech.

I would suggest AP bio, since you might learn stuff that will actually give you useful at Tech. Making your senior year count for AP science and math credit is very important.

What about self studying AP Biology? I have heard it is do able?

Sure it is doable. But you said above the you could not do AP History at the same times as AP Biology. Obviously, the optimal situation would be for you to take AP Bio and AP History. There is no point what so ever to take AP Statistics though. You will not get any AP credit and it will just be a waste of time that you could be using to study for AP exams where you can actually get college credit. If you have not had a biology class yet, self-studying bio would be hard, especially since you need to score a 5 to get credit.

Thank you for replying. I think I may just take AP biology and then take normal History. I may just try to take the AP exam for ap euro because I only need a 4 for credit at GT. With a little self study I am sure I can get a 4. Thank you.

Yes, you should do AP Bio and self-study for AP euro because AP euro credit goes towards social science requirement. I deem that a great choice GTFan98

I believe I shall be doing this. Thank you guys!
