AP Biology

If the same trend in all my AP tests happen for biology it will be an easy multiple choice and a hard FR. I was looking at the past tests and there hasnt been a cellular respiration and photosynthesis question in a while, maybe its time for one? Just a thought, my teacher said it makes sense. A systems questions seems reasonable as well.

i think you are right. i am reviewing the night before. ap bio should be a joke.

cb is gonna be pwned.

wait....

r u SURE it's celcular respiratoin/photosyntehesis?
well, if so.....
Thanks!!

what else would u predict are the essays?

no, im emphasizing im NOT sure, im just noticing that there hasnt been one on cellular respiration and photosynthesis in a while, theres really no way to predict, they might give another meiosis/mitosis essay for all we know

What do you mean by systems. Like the immune system and skeletal system? I'll take all the help I can get on this exam. I really want to get a 5 so I can beat my sister at something. And this would be double because my parents don't think I'm good a bio.

yeah the human systems; excretory, circulatory (the essays about this system are usually never general, like they rarely ask to explain the entire circulatory system), digestive, respiratory, immune, muscoskeletal, nervous and endocrine. An essay on the nervous system would be nice, i think its the most interesting out of all of them so i remember all the functions the most.

It would be good to do the nervous system because I learned it twice once in bio and once in psyc.

As long as there isn't an ecology FR, i will be happy. And looking at least year's FR, there was a photosynthesis related question, but respiration is still in the running for this year. There will probably be a system question and a diversity of life. There was heredity last year, so its probably genetics this year... as long as its not biotech, im good... Bio is gonna be fun

how about DNA transcription/replication and translation
and what do u mean by diversity of life, taxonomy?

Nah, replication seems hackneyed--though, I could see them using an essay on Recombination in a standard essay or "design a lab" format.

what other methods besides PCR and gel electrophoresis are there?

I hope not I hate that stuff. I hope we have one on cell respiration though but I'm starting to doubt that because I don't think they would have something so similar to photosysnthesis.

My bio teacher just told us today about a kid two years ago who just didn't do one of the FRQ's and still got a 5. I read in the Princeton Review that one of the 4 FRQ's is experimental so I'm guessing he lucked out and skipped that one.

Hm, I really don't want to cram the entire labratory sectrion of my cliffs book sunday night, and I'm hoping the SAT II doesn't have that. I mean, recombination isn't bad; it'd be designing an experiment that would be difficult--having to catalyze plasmids, and stain fragments, electrophoresis, oh my! Haha, but yeah--it's really up in the air.

Hey are you getting a book for the SATII becuase I signed up for it but I have no idea what the format is. All i know is there is one part where you pick what section you want to do.

I also don't want to design a complicated lab but with my luck that will be a question on there.

there were no systems last year, i suppose there is a really high chance of one this year

Oh the irony, I'm much more apprehensive about my SAT II than my AP; it's weird. For the format, I'd look on collegeboard, or look back at different threads: I remember posting a lot of useful information. What's your take on the SAT II? Have you heard if it's easier than the AP? Do many people do well?

so anyone else have any thoughts on what the FR will be about?

It might seem like I'm not contributing to this topic, but...

...you can't predict; you can prepare.
