So, I feel like I haven't learned anything this year in AP Biology. Maybe, I am being ungrateful or whatever, but I really believe I have not learned much. Here is my problem: somehow I pulled off an A in the class by just doing like assignments etc. and I probably only have read 7 chapters out of the book. We have covered almost 25 chapters of the 56 chapters.

Now, I feel like I havent learned anything, except some of the ecology stuff which I got a really good grasp on. I am the type of person that tries to understand everything in depth and Biology is just so frustrating. I want to understand everything, but cant bring myself to read all the chapters and spend time on it. I want a 5 on the exam.

My solution to my problem: from now until AP test, I will read all the chapters and the AP Cliffs book. How realistic of a goal is this? Can this be done in a month?

I’m in worse shape than you. We covered 17/55 chapters.

We have covered nearly nothing (no joke). Last semester we had a teacher who didn’t care because he was quitting anyways, and this semester’s teacher isn’t much better.

I plan on doing several thorough, solid readings of Cliffs and Barron’s (and hoping for a 5!). Honestly I don’t think there is any point in reading the textbook unless you need clarification on a specific topic.

I think my teacher gives us a lot of pointless work that to me is just mindless work. However, reading all the chapters and doing practice problems before our tests has really helped me and I have a good grasp of many topics. It may be because of the fact that I am interested in Biology and will pursue medicine in the future, hopefully. In order to practice and get better I will be using cliffs too. I tried a few Princeton Review problems and it was not all too bad.

If you haven’t learned a lot yet try to study and read the book on your own time supplementing your reading with the CLIFFS book. Towards the end of March or the beginning of April, after you have covered most of the Biology topics and have read the ENTIRE cliffs book, it would be wise to start taking one practice test a week and adjust your study habits from there.
GOOD LUCK!

i took it last year and my teacher made the class really hard so when we took the test it wasn’t as hard as the class and we were prepared-i ended up with a B+ and a 4 on the exam
