Would it matter to colleges if I take either or?

I am currently in Precalc honors online ( had problems with my schedule, so I just went online to take it). The last chapter is an intro to calc, and the syllabus says I can do either.

Would It really matter to an Adcom which I take?

It definitely would matter. BC more rigorous class. Whether it would matter enough to make a difference, however, is a difference matter. Unless you're really on the border somewhere, it's very unlikely to make any difference.

You should really take BC. As far as material goes, it's only two extra topics (polar and taylor series, parametric doesn't really count if you ask me, because it's just calc A topics in a new application), and if often counts for double the credit, so I'd highly advise going that route. Calc AB is pretty much a waste of time. Why not just take another week or two to learn two more things for twice the credit?

Calc BC is very rigorous, but if you are at all interested in math/science, you should take it. It is one of the only APs that colleges still really respect (unlike history which is slightly controversial).

I took BC this year and it wasn't too much of a challenge. I'm not a math wiz, in fact It's my worst subject, but I scraped by with a B pretty easily and feel I did pretty well on the AP. Someone more dedicated would probably have ace'd that class.

The head of the math department at my son's school told me that colleges are indifferent as to whether a student has taken through AB or BC. Doing well in either is more important.
