I'm currently a freshman taking integrated III honors (probably equivalent to algebra 2/some precalc). The AP's my school offers for sophomores are APUSH, AP Bio, and AP Calc AB. I'll be taking an 8- day precalc course over the summer and if I pass the test, my schedule will look like this:
AP Calc AB
AP Bio
Honors British Lit
Honors US History
Biotech (required "pathway" course ://)
drivers ed/health (1 semester each)
Chinese II
(I only have 7 classes because AP Bio takes up my elective because we're doing honors and AP Bio in the same year)
Does this look like a good schedule? Also, would APUSH be better than AP Calc AB in sophomore year?

Looks fine to me. At my school we do AP calc AB in the second semester and precalc in the first. You either take the class in 10th or 11th grade. It’s too bad you can’t do APUSH but if you plan to major in something math or science related I guess you should take math and science APs.

Yeah, I mean I do plan to major in a science field but if somehow I don’t pass the test at the end of the summer, I’m doing the APUSH summer work so I can take it anyway. I might be able to self study but AP Bio and AP Calc is probably enough work.

Ya the schedule looks pretty good. I’m taking AP bio, AP calc BC, and AP computer science as my AP classes for my sophmore year. Ya you’ll be fine

Calling @Smrtical to the scene

Oh. I took AP Calc AB sophomore year and I did perfectly fine in it. Go for it!

Why not BC?

@Apollo11 Many schools don’t allow students to “skip” AB, and I assume this is the case in this person’s school. My school works like this as well, and I had to get special permission from two deans, my math teacher, the head of the math department, and the college advisor in order to go from precalc to BC.

What? @ScholarAthleteXC, BC is AB with ~2 extra chapters
