So I was in AP Calc AB at the start of this year, felt like I knew the material, but then come test time I failed horribly. Literally failed too, like under a 65. So I decided to switch to precalc and i'm in AP Statistics also, along with AP U.S. Gov, AP Bio, and AP English lit. Basically, was switching into precalc the right choice? I have a 97 average compared to a failing one in AB. Also, this is my senior year. Was this switch really detrimental or should i be okay? Technically I am also following the track since i took alg2/trig last year and calc required me to skip precalc altogether.

if you’re not ready for the class, dont take it.
so i think yu made the right decision.
where are you applying?/what grade are you in?

Woops, forgot to mention I’m a senior.
I’m applying to:
Suny Binghamton
Suny Geneseo
Suny Stony Brook
Boston University
NYU
Fordham
Northeastern
Brandeis
Hamilton
U Maryland- College Park
American University
George Washington University

If you hadn’t taken Pre-Calc, there’s no wonder you had a harder time in AP Calc. Anyways, for those schools, assuming your other stats and credentials are decent, it won’t be a big deal if you maintain that awesome grade.

You’re fine and you are going places.

You’re definitely fine with your schedule. No reason to ruin your GPA by taking AP Calc when you’re already in many other APs.
