AP calc & AP U.S. History

What's the best text book to self-study AP U.S. History? I know that the "REA" book is great for prep for the SAT II or the AP... I've taken 3 "regular" semesters of U.S. history in my HS--- no honors offered at all, and u.s. history isn't one of the four APs -- I'm wondering if I'd even need to get an actual U.S. text book, because I know quite a bit already... Would I be better off with just the "REA" study guide thing to save time and money? I plan to take the U.S. History SAT II exam and the AP exam.

I'm having issues with AP calc courses, too. The only AP's in my school are chem, bio, calc, and English--- They told me that I wouldn't be able to take any until I was a senior... I wanted to take both Pre-calc and Calc this year b/c I love math but the lady that teaches calc is like the chair on the math board and she's a real ***** --- I had her last year, and she REFUSED to let me take it until my senior year... Anyway... I'd like to know what the best books are to self-study calc ab, bc & multi-var... Oh yeah.. What books are good to prep for the SAT II: Math IIC ?

Thank you for all of your input.

For APUSH get The American Pageant textbook and The Princeton Review exam guide. Helped me get a 5. For AP Calculus, get Kennedy's blue book for a textbook. As far as exam guides go, Barron's is good for hard problems and practice, but it's a little light on explanations. Princeton Review is good too. I strongly suggest going to the Collegeboard site and ordering all the Free Response questions from the past few decades. Doing them and learning from mistakes will help. I guarantee it.

There are actually outlines available online for Pageant.
