AP Calc BC Credit

I just recently looked in OPUS for any AP credits I have that transferred. I got a 5 for Calc BC and a 5 on the subscore for AB. However, the unofficial transcript says that I was only given 4.00 credits for it. This is what it says:

MATH 112Z Calculus II 4.00 4.00 T

But on the Emory math department site it says this:

"Students with AP Credit: If you received a 4 or a 5 on the BC Calculus test, then you will receive 8 credits in mathematics and have placed out of Math 111-112. You should choose from among Math 211 Multivariable Calculus, Math 221 Linear Algebra, and Math 212 Differential Equations. If you intend to major in Computer Science, then you should take Math 221."

Does anyone have a similar problem? Did anyone get the full 8 credits? Or did this policy change?

Hi, I took AP CALC BC also but how did you find what transferred? where do you go on opus? thanks

Main Menu>Self-Service>Academic Records>View Unofficial Transcript

Then on Report Type choose the Emory Transfer/Test Evaluation

Let me know if you have the same situation!

…Um mine didnt show anything besides my name and student ID. The page was blank… anyone know why? sorry i couldnt help out…

I got a 5 on BC Calc too-- but nothing showed up for me yet (same situation as above). Maybe they’re still processing the entire thing? I have no idea, sorry!

hey finnah, could it possibly be because you have taken and gotten more than 24 credits? I recall Emory limiting the number of credits transferred to 24… I graduated with 9 APs and have gotten credit for all of them… so could it be that Emory doesnt know which classes we pick to transfer??

Does it say anywhere that you also got 4 credits for Math 111? Cause 112Z is calc 2, and 111 is calc 1, so it would be logical to get 4 credits for each, totaling to 8 credits as said.

hey kasmokia, nope, that’s definitely not the case. I didn’t take enough APs to get 24 hours of credit, so I really have no idea why nothing is showing up for me. My only guess is that my spanish lang score was delayed because I had to retake the test (faulty recorder), so maybe that’s delaying all of my scores being sent to Emory? At this point I think I’ll just wait it out a while and see if anything comes up! Good luck with yours though!

If you have >24 then don’t they just post them all, and then you choose the ones to forfeit perhaps by taking the Emory equivalent of the class, which normally results in automatic forfeit?

They’re probably still processing it. I know for a couple people it hasn’t shown up yet.

It doesn’t say anywhere I got 4 credits for Math 111.

on opus it says i can get 4 credits for math 111 and 4 credits for math 112Z.
if i decide to major in bio, it says i would need math 115 and 116. would i still need to take those classes?

Nope. Your advisor nor the bio dept. is going to make someone w/an adequate math background take re-focused versions of a calc. class. I declared my biology major only after taking 111/112 and it’s fine.
