OK, so which would a college (specifically UM) prefer for a student who has already taken Calc AB junior year:

Take Calc BC at high school senior year.

or

Take Calculus 2 in the fall at a local CC and Calc 3 in the spring during senior year.

What would they look more highly upon?

Take 2 and 3 at the CC. BC would be almost all review- it would be better if you learned more at the CC.

See, that's what I'm thinking. Calc 3 is a step beyond what Calc BC covers even though AP Calc may be considered a bit more "rigorous" than CC calc classes.

I agree with brillar. With the exception of series and some vectors stuff, BC = AB. Go for Calc 3

Colleges like to see that you took the effort to go "beyond your highschool" to learn and be challenged. That'll look better than taking BC after AB.

Having done Calc I and II myself and CC AND BC, I would recommend you do Calc II and III. BC will only go up through Calc II (and my calc II class even went beyond what the test covered), and then you can cover more ground in Calc III

I would have taken Calc III myself, but the only prof who teaches it at my CC is a complete moron (he taught Calc II and was terrible at teaching)

Calculus III is an amazing class, I highly reccommend it. I'm just finishing it now at Bard, and it makes physics and chemistry make so much more sense. I can even derive multivariable chemistry formulas now.
