I am interested in becoming a science/engineering major. Math has alwas been my weakest subject, but this year (Junior year) I'm enjoying it a lot more and doing better than ever. I signed up for AP Calc BC because I wanted to challenge myself and I've enjoyed precalc the most out of any of the prerequisite maths, but because my school has block scheduling (four classes a semester, AP classes take up the whole year) and required classes (Gov. and English for Senior year) I cannot take both AP classes I really want next year: Chem and Bio. Is it a good decision to drop Calc BC for Honors Calc, which would free up both AP Bio and Chem next year? I like chemistry and biology a lot, but I'm not quite sure which of these options is a better decision for applying for a science major. If I took AP Calc BC, I could only take AP Chem or AP Bio, not both.

Definitely do AP Calc (AB or BC doesn’t really matter though, you can self study the BC part if you want). And I would suggest asking upperclassmen which class they enjoyed more, colleges don’t really differentiate between the two in terms of being impressed. In terms of being more prepared for college, I would say take AP Chem, because Bio is just straight memorization.
Although I sucked at chem haha, got a 2 on the exam (730 subj though). I’m in AP bio now as a senior and doing Calc AB.
If you’re considering engineering though, I def. recommend taking AP Physics if your school has it.

Well I’m between chem/bio engineering and pharmacy. I really want to do pharmacy the most, but that’s a graduate thing so I was thinking about engineering for undergrad. I am more interested in bio and chem than calc though, at least right now I am.

and btw to take calc BC I have to take another semester calc course as a pre requisite

Really it depends on your interests. You are going into engineering so it would be a good idea to do Calc BC sometime before you reach college. However, if you have the time to do honors calc before Calc BC, go for it, because it prepares you better, teaches on more details. The only reason you would do Calc BC immediately would be that you only have one year between now and college.

I’m not a math person, so Calc BC is probably the hardest for me. AP Bio was easy, just time consuming because of a lot of memorization. I find AP Chem the easiest, honestly, it’s very reasonable and not hard at all.
