I am a sophomore right now and taking pre-calc. I was wondering if I should take AP Calc BC or Calc 2 because I don’t know if they are the same thing or not. What do you think I should do and if they are different then what are the differences
AP Calc BC is Calc 1 and 2
My HS only offered AP Calculus AB and BC, no other calculus courses.
That said, they might cover essentially the same material, except Calc BC obviously includes the AP exam. BC also includes AB (aka calculus 1), but I don’t know how your school does it.
Ask your math teacher whether your school offers a path where after Precalc H students take Calc AB first and CalcBC second, or if your HS offers a path where after Precalc H students take either AB OR BC, depending on grade in Precalc H.
If you can take Calc AB junior year, then Calc 2 at a community college senior year, it means you’d have a slower-paced version of calc1, then you could either take Calc2 and 3 senior year (one per semester)… or Calc 2 in the Fall, and enjoy your last semester senior year.
Take BC, you will save ur soul from entering the “death weed-out class” at college: Calc 2.
