So i remember someone saying in one of these threads that Stern is no longer accepting AP calc credit anymore, so does that mean I should stop studying for that AP test and study on another subject, or are they still going to use AP test scores as placement tests?

they will give you credit for calc if you did well on the exam but you have to then take a higher level calc. you can't place out of calc. i'm not studying for bc exam

so basically it is pointless for me to study for the calc exam and better for me to fail so i have an easier time taking my calc requirement next year

thats my plan

so not only for stern, but for all other ap policy in nyu,

does that mean that if we ace the ap exam, we might end up in harder courses than intro because they can tbe used to fill requirement?

how bout when it comes to CAS with MAP?

if so, i am not studying because why take harder courses from the beginning by cramming for ap, when you are not as ready as taking the intro course!!

wait we need to find out for sure about this. Is this only for calc or all subjects and if this is for all schools. AP exams are in a week and a half so it would be good to find out what the case in the next few days so we all can plan our studying accordingly.

For Stern, you will recieve no credit for any of the Calc, Econ, Stats, and Enlgish Language exams. I have no idea about CAS.

that really sucks, i guess its calc I next year. i wish i had taken a science AP

i don't quite understand, even though u don't get credits for stats, econs and calc, does a good score on the AP test means u get automatically placed into more advanced classes?

no, i'm pretty sure its your choice, they can't force you to take a more advanced class unless you are ready. i am taking bc rt now, but i will most probably start off again with calc I. its up to you. one thing is for sure though, you have to take a calc class

Here is some clarification:
a) You cannot use AP credit to be exempt from the math requirement at Stern
b) You can CHOOSE to take a higher level math course, with proof of completing Calc I or II, but this is not required. You can take the same class again, if you want to.

Well i just checked out that chart that you posted the link for and i'm gonna have 22 credits but they "strongly recommend" that you don't use more than 16, should I not bother taking the AP US test then since its only 4 credits?

Well, you can have 22 credits, but you don't actually have to use all of them. During orientation, they'll give you a form you can fill out to apply AP credits, and I would tell you to put ONLY the credits that will exempt you from a class. Otherwise, you're going to be eating into elective credits that you might want for a major or minor. You can always decide later on to apply more AP credits if you want.
