AP Calc or AP Stats for senior year?

I was wondering which I should take. I'm not strong in math... at all. Actually, I think it would be safe to say that I'm God-awful at math. I have no idea why. I used to be very strong in it. Now, I probably don't study as much as I should, but I doubt more studying would help me much. I'm in pre-calculus now (junior year) and barely pulling a B-.

As much as I don't want to, I know that it's to my benefit to take a math class next year. The three higher level classes offered at my school are AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, and AP Statistics. I've already totally ruled out BC. I think stats would probably be easier for me, and calculus isn't required (I'll be applying to colleges as either a communications or English major). I'd want to do poli-sci or psychology as a backup, so stats could probably be more to my benefit, but would having calculus on my transcript look better when applying to colleges? Or would it totally and completely not matter?

totally depends how selective your college list is…

Unless you are applying to top 20 schools, (given your own self-assessment in math,) unlike others on CC, I wouldn’t recommend AP Calc, especially if your career aspirations are what you explained…AP stats would be very useful if you could do well, since most comm programs (as well as psych majors) have stats as a requirement…

again, I repeat it totally depends on your list…

Ok, now you can all attack and disagree with me…

both calc and stats will show you are well-rounded. I think Stats would actually look better because it would be more useful for your inteneded career majors.

If you’re not good at math and the rest of your schedule is rigorous enough, take Stats.
