AP Calc or AP Stats?

I'm really torn on whether to take AP Stats or AP Calc next year. I don't have room in my schedule to take both of them. Math really isn't my strong suit - I have mid to low B's in pre-calc right now, although there are also extenuating circumstances to that (but those extenuating circumstances will probably still be in effect next year for Stats or Calc, so that's a moot point.) I'm looking to apply to some small private LACs, like Hamilton, Vassar, Colgate, etc. As for Ivies, I might be interested in Brown. I know that AP Calc is looked upon more favorably than Stats, but do you think I have a chance of doing well considering my grade in pre-calc right now?

If it helps, I want to major in International Relations.

ooh take AP Stat! I didn’t take Calc yet but if your stat teacher is anything like mine, that class is amazing. The math is challenging but useful and graphs are exciting and the material is so applicable!

Talk to your pre cal teacher about it, sometimes people find Pre cal harder than AP Calc, or Algebra 1 harder than Algebra 2

For a social studies major (other than economics or business), knowledge of statistics is more likely to be useful than knowledge of calculus, unless you need knowledge of calculus to take a more in-depth statistics course than AP statistics is.

If you intend to take economics courses beyond the freshman level introductory course, then you will need calculus and possibly more advanced math or statistics for the intermediate micro and macro economics courses.

AP calculus BC > AP calculus AB > AP statistics in terms of general perception of course rigor.
