Ap Calc vs Dual Enrollment

My school will not let students take Ap Cslc BC before AB, so I would have to take two years of Calc. Would it be better to take it at a community college so I could take both Calc 1 and 2 in one year. I like math and am pretty good at it, I will also be majoring in Engineering.

I don’t have an opinion on this, but I do know of one junior (now a senior) who was in my precalculus class who did something similar to what you are proposing. Both him and myself (I was a sophomore) were in a precalculus class, and at the end of the year in precalculus, he took Calculus I and II at a community college over the summer. He finished the courses and began Calculus III at the start of his senior year at the same community college.

From what I’ve read, dual enrollment is generally looked upon as equal to if not better than taking an AP course. So if you are up to the challenge, you should definitely go for it.

I would also look into the logistics…how easy would it be to get to the CC? Would you be ready for Multivariable Calc the next year?
