AP Calculus AB calculator help?

I have a TI-89 and I have no clue how to use it for some problems on the calculator portion of the test. Does anybody have a site or guide on what I need to know how to do with the calculator, possibly with a ti-89 guide as well?

Much appreciated!

What exactly do you need the 89 to do?

I don’t know. a bunch of things like:

How would I solve this problem with the calculator
Find the equation of the line tangent to the graph of f(x) = x^4 + 2x^2 at the point where f’(x) = 1.

y = x-0.122

That’s what I got with a TI-84… Hmm I think that’s right

Edit: I graphed 4x^3 + 4x - 1, found where there was a zero, let that zero be equal to x, plugged x into f(x), and I used the point-slope form to find the equation of the line tangent to the graph where f’(x) = 1. Haha I know this laundry list really doesn’t help you with what you need, sorry.

How do you solve that o_o? That’s the answer

Oh I posted my solution in my earlier post! I don’t think you can rely too much on your calculator for the calculator portion of the exam, because it’s really just a test of your knowledge of how to use your calculator to find the missing pieces of information, if that makes sense! Like when I graphed 4x^3 + 4x - 1 to find a zero. I probably could’ve done that by hand, but that would’ve taken me longer than just plugging it into my calculator.

Honestly, I just went through the calculator problems of the 1998 multiple choice of the calculus ab multiple choice and I was confused on how to solve several problems :(. Partly due to not having the best teacher.

I guess I’ll just crank out a bunch of multiple choice problems from past ap tests. this is so depressing lol
