AP Calculus AB in Sophomore year

Hi so these are my two schedule options for HS sophomore year:

OPTION 1:
AP Language and Composition
AP U.S. History
AP Calculus AB
Biology I–II
Chemistry I-II
French 2A

OPTION 2:
AP Language and Composition
AP U.S. History
Precalculus I-II Honors
Biology I–II
Chemistry I-II
French 2A

The only difference is that I can either take AP Calculus AB or Precalculus I-II Honors. I have taken a very rigorous Precalculus I-II course before but I did not do well (given that it was very rigorous). I am not sure if I should retake it or just review it over the summer and go full on with AP Calculus AB. If I take AP Calculus AB I would be taking Multivariable Calc at a University by senior year but if I take Honors Precalculus I would be taking AP Calculus BC by senior year. Will colleges (specifically Ivy leagues) care?

When did you take that precalc course and would it show up on your transcript? If you’ve taken it before, I would say there is no use taking the same course again.

I took that precalculus course during freshman year (my schedule during freshman year was unusual to say the least) but it wouldn’t show up on my transcript

Did you, in the end, feel like you understood the concepts in Pre-Calc?

Some kids (especially students who take Calc early) say that Calculus is a step up from other math classes conceptually. This wasn’t a problem for me, and considering the rigor of your Pre-Calc class, if you did okay in it, you should be good to go, but you should be aware that sometimes there are problems.

I would probably go with Calc AB. Over the summer, I’d brush up on Pre-Calc skills even though not all of them will come back in Calc-- they’re good things to know. Pre-Calc would likely be quite boring and annoying if you had seen all the material before.

You realize that’s not a valid excuse, right?

Review over the summer and take Calc AB next year.

(my prof said) I had the equivalent of a 4- in a HS Honors Precalculus course so… no “excuse” here hahaha - @pseudoprimal and @dprimalyeah good point, it would probably too boring, thanks everyone!
