I'm a junior in high school and currently I'm taking AP Calculus AB. The class isn't too hard for me and I am thinking of switching into AP Calculus BC. The teacher for BC is better than the teacher for AB, but the teacher for AB is still pretty good.

The thing is that I'm taking AP English Language, AP Physics B, AP Spanish Language, AP US History, and AP Psychology. I've heard that AP Calculus BC is substantially harder than AB, and I'm not sure I will have to time to study the BC stuff since the AB class is about a chapter behind the BC class (we just learned about derivatives yesterday) and I have various commitments to clubs and such.

What should I do?

Stay in AB and do your best in your junior year. BC will be a breeze for you in your senior year and you can handle harder classes while still getting good grades.

no shame in sticking with AB, you’re still ahead. btw focus on your SAT and ACT since it will definitely help out, and you’ll have more time for this

Take BC. I don’t think Calc I takes an entire year in universities… Spending an entire year for studying Calc AB is just not worthy…

Take BC.BC is more valuable than AB and it is not really hard.Barron’s Calculus book is very good, you can buy it and try to understand. If you feel it really hard, and than you can give up it and change back to AB.

Taking AB rather than BC is sort of like taking Algebra II and then taking Pre-AP Algebra II.
